ALEXANDER WOOLLCOTT'S WHILE ROME BURNS COCKTAIL
1 part lemon juice, 2 parts Medford rum, 1 dash of maple syrup
ART LINKLETTER'S PAPAYA COCKTAIL
Two parts of papaya juice, one part sherry wine. Serve in cocktail glass.
BENNY GOODMAN'S ADMIRAL COCKTAIL

1 jigger rye. Mix using fresh lemonade. Add ice. Pour into glass with the rim rubbed with lemon and dotted with sugar and left in refrigerator for at least a half-hour.

In a shaker, chill a jigger of cognac with 1/2 jigger dark Barbados rum, 1 teaspoon thick cream, 1/2 teaspoon sugar, pony of vanilla extract. Strain into cocktail glass having hollow stem.

CARL CARRIER'S STARS FELL ON ALABAMA COCKTAIL
1 jigger old Alabama corn whiskey, 1 dash Peychaud bitters, 1 dash Angostura bitters, 1 dash orange flower water, 1 lump sugar, 6 drops absinthe. Ice and stir briskly.

1 part vermouth, 4 parts gin, 6 pearl onions.

8 jiggers light rum, 1 jigger maple syrup, 1 jigger lemon juice. Shake well with cracked ice and serve like a Daiquiri on pre-chilled glass.
JANE PICKENS' PICKENS' PUNCH
1/3 peach brandy, 1/3 cherry liqueur, 1/3 creme de menthe. Shake, then let stand for 5 minutes. Serve without ice.
JUDY HOLLIDAY'S WHITE LADY
8 to 4 parts gin with 1 part Cointreau and 1 part fresh grapefruit juice. Pour the mix into a Martini glass.
LILY PONS' KIM HUNTER'S RAINBOW OLD-FASHIONED
Pour over two ice cubes, 5 teaspoonfuls of water drenched with sugar (known as simple syrup).
Add 2 dashes Angostura bitters, 1 teaspoon maraschino cherry juice, 1 maraschino cherry, 2 ounces rye, half a slice of orange, a twist of lemon peel, and half a fresh strawberry. Stir twice lightly and serve.
LOUIS PAUL'S PUMPKIN COACH COCKTAIL

OLIVER LA FARGE'S LAUGHING BOY COCKTAIL
Dissolve half a teaspoonful of sugar in a dash of Angostura bitters. Add 1 teaspoonful of sweet vermouth. Add some chipped ice. Fill Old Fashioned glass to the brim with New England rum. Garnish using lemon peel and slices of orange (if you like fruit salad).
PATRICE MUNSEL'S PLANTER'S PUNCH
1 part lime juice, 1 part brown sugar, 3 parts dark Jamaica rum, 3 parts of water. Stir sugar and water in pitcher. Add juice, ice and rum. Stir. Serve using tumblers or cocktail glasses.
RISE STEVENS' MORNING GLORY
Fill Collins glass using ice chunks, pour l/2 ounce Cointreau, 1/4 ounce cherry brandy, dash of Angostura bitters. Add some orange, pineapple slices. Fill up with champagne.
SINCLAIR LEWIS' ARROWSMITH PUNCH
One-third pint lime or lemon juice, 3/4 pound of sugar melted in water, half a pint of cognac, 1/4 quart peach brandy, 1/4 pint Jamaica rum, 2 1/2 pints carbonated water. Add large piece of ice and serve up from punch bowl.
